Poll: Reid leads Angle by 3

A new poll could provide a little bit of good news for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, whose Tea-Party backed opponent, Sharron Angle, announced yesterday that she raised an astonishing $14 million in just three months.

The survey from Suffolk University shows Reid with a 3-point lead over Angle – within the poll's margin of error but one of Reid's best performances in a nonpartisan poll since early last month.

The poll showed 46 percent of likely Nevada voters supporting Reid, 43 supporting Angle, and 2 percent supporting Tea Party candidate Scott Ashjian. Three percent of likely voters said "None of these candidates" when they were given the option to "lean" towards one of the contenders; when asked whom they supported without including the "lean" option, 13 percent said they would support none of them.

It's not hard to see why Nevada voters might be dissatisfied with their major candidates. Fifty-two percent of respondents said they said they had an unfavorable opinion of Angle, and 54 percent said the same of Reid.

Angle just got 14 million in contributions all of a sudden. For someone that said she was leading a grass roots campaign so she wouldn't be beholden to anyone, it seems she sold out to special interests and is now just like everyone else.

It would be good if she would disclose exactly just who gave her all that money and what they expect in return for it... wouldn't it?

Even if Angle won, she's famous for NOT working with anyone or doing what she's expected to do. She's "NO" Angle after all, so no one would count on her except her "special interests"........ which are radical

Harry got his money with questionable land deals, and friendly rezoning to suddenly making his property worth a fortune. DIRTY HARRY

I think Harry wants to get in office again, and then retire. allowing his son, RORY, to appoint himself senator. Rory doesn't really want to be Gov. because senator is where the money is at.

Anyone who would vote for that scumbag Dirty Harry is a fool. The people of Nevada have a real choice here they can continue to vote idiots into office like Harry or they can tell the Democratic party they are done with the destructive policies of Harry and this Presidents agenda. If they vote for Harry then they might as well write themselves off as a lost cause just like California has become. If I was from Nevada I would be ashamed as a citizen of the behaviour and votes that this man has put forth.

Yesterday Rasmussen had Angle ahead. We are within the margin of error. Not good for Harry considering that he is the incumbent, should have all the political know how and has out spent Angle.

Scariest part about todays Republicans is that they consider everyone who disagrees with them, enemies of the state and not fellow citizens who disagree with them. I'm a life long Republican and proud of that. Haven't been proud lately though. Party has been taken over by kooks. Didn't freeze my ass off in a German forest many years ago, so that a bunch of born agains with no qualifications can enforce some grand old party theocracy. Got no time for Godless heathens either who want to get all religious people out of office, but at least the far left fringe hasn't taken over the Democratic party. Time for the modern GOP to start electing people who at least have the brain power to name a founding father or a periodical. Hell, by their standards today--Reagan and even Nixon would be too damn liberal for them. Party has gone to hell in a hand basket. Are there no Goldwater Republicans left in this country?

Scariest part about today's Democrats , they think they know what is good for the voters, even when the voters are telling them to hold up on a bill. The "we know better " attitude. A smug Harry Reid didn't even bother to listen to voters when writing the health care bill. He believed he knew better then the people that put him in office. Well, some people do not need nor want the nanny state. Some people believe that when you vote a person into office they are accountable to the people that put them their, not the party they belong to. And nothing like using taxpayer dollars to openly corrupt the system and bribe fellow Democrats to vote for a bill that the majority now believe is a bad bill and should be repealed.

Never ceases to amaze me how many liberals will try to cover themselves by saying, "I'm a life long Republican and proud of that. Haven't been proud lately though..." Like this is supposed to give you some credibility. If your points are weak don't try to hide behind a false title. We see you for who you really are (a liberal in disguise). The only "kooks" are the morons we have in office right now (Reid, Pelosi and Erkel).

The most accurate poll is Rasmussen. They have proven results. How accurate are your polls with the actual outcomes of elections?????? Check out what Rasmussens is. No other poll competes with them.

OMG,,, The Suffolk University Poll ? Now there is reliable information - LOL

Liberals are grasping at straws :-)

Obama has turned PURE COMMUNITY ORGANIZER,, he has not been in his office for a full days work in weeks and weeks. All he does is give speeches, attack the opposition and look like Joe Doaks not a President. He said endlessly about Stimulus,, " all the shovel ready jobs to put people back to work" ,, but today he said there is no such thing as " shovel ready jobs " .. Do you Libs understand why he looks inept and dishonest ?

The Right will take at last 70 seats in the House and will win the Senate by a close margin ... Get used to it Libs...

The LIbs make so many incorrect statements. Someone above said Reagan passed Amnesty for 20 million illegals... the actual number was 3 million and the condition was that the borders would be sealed and that would be it. Reagan made a huge mistake but it was a Democratic sponsored bill of course . The Dems controlled Congress until 1994 and stopped every effort to seal the borders.

                            • Obama is screaming about foreign money from the Chamber of Commerce but has no proof or basis of that charge. But George Soros is giving hundreds of billions to the Unions which are shielded from disclosure. MOVE ON attacks Karl Rove for non disclosure,, yet the Dems have more organizations than Republicans who are 527 or 503 which don't have to give disclosures. The Libs just hate the Republicans energized to contribute . I never gave a penny to any party ,, but in the last year I have given significant money to every Conservative movement for one reason,, I fear the Progressives are wrecking the country,, and the National Debt and Budget Deficits under Obama and the Dems,, is proof of my point.
                            • I actually think Obama is doing whatever China tells him to do.

I relish watching Keith Olberman, Sweet Ed Smith , Rachel Maddow and Chris Mathews twist in agony on November 2nd.

It will be a very devastating election result for the Democrats are now cannot run on their record. Stimulus, Omnibus, ObamaCare, Financial Reg Reform,,, all killers for Demcrats.

MoveON boycotting Target over lies , California boycotting AZ over their legal legislation, Obama slamming every possible private business be it Oil, Insurance, Banks, Autos, Coal, -- a very Radical approach.

What kind of lunatic would call Conservatives and Independents radical ,, when they combined make up over 75 % of the citizens of this country.

Liberals are Communists,, Conservatives are Americans with American Values.

Good bye Democrats,, see you again in 20 years .

Very true! Although, you might find it interesting that out of ALL polls, Rasmussen has been the most accurate at predicting the outcomes of elections. They give their specifics of how they poll. It's different than everyone else and I think that's why theirs tends to be more accurate. It's still not 100%, but it's close.

Illiegal immigration is NOT the problem in this country. As I read the various posts here I can not help but wondering how people can be so blind and easily influenced. The REAL problem is that corporate america has become too greedy. Multi-National Corporations have systematically moved jobs to China, Korea, India, Mexico etc....to take advantage of cheaper labor and less environmental restrictions to increase their profit margins. See NAFTA, CAFTA et.al. all the while our politicians on both sides of the isle are more interested in protecting corporate investments rather than the general welfare of the american public. A corporation can shut down operations in this country, move the jobs to another country and get tax credits and subsidies for doing it. Then that same corporation will move its base of operations to some tax shelter like the Kayman Islands or Switzerland and avoid paying U.S. Taxes altogether. Thus transferring the tax burden to the american middle class whose wages have remained stagnant over the past decade. That is the REAL problem. No one is looking out for the average citizen. The real criminals here are the corpoate CEO's who shut dowm american factories, layoff american workers then take obscene amounts of money as a bonus for doing so. That is who we should all be outraged over not some poor soul slipping across the border to pick tomatos for $4.25 an hour. So, for people who think putting up a border fence is the answer to the problem the only thing I can say is "WAKE UP".

According to your reasoning it wouldn't matter if we truly sealed the border and shipped all the illegals back home. It would be perfectly OK to do that ...right???

By the way, have you looked at construction sites around the valley in say, the last twenty years??? Who is working there??? Illegals. Thousands of them. They don't just pick fruit anymore.

                              Edward,

How many of the builders of those homes are middle-class, working people? Not the workers constructing the houses, but the owners, CEOs, board members, etc., of the companies who own the land and then sell the houses after they are built.

You see, Edward, it is the builders who hire the people who construct the houses. And if it is immigrants who are constructing those houses, why do you not blame the builders for hiring them? Maybe because your GOOPer overlords told you not to blame them, and you unquestionably followed your overlords' orders?

                                #38.2 - Thu Oct 14, 2010 6:08 AM EDT

Your post doesn't accurately account for these companies that head overseas in order to escape tax burdens here either. As for illegals, they are exactly that, ILLEGAL. They need to go through the same naturalization process as all of those that are here LEGALLY. Why do those that try to do what is right have to go through all of the turmoil to become a legal citizen if those who just come here illegally don't?!?

Mike, as far as your argument, you are just a moron. CEOs don't hire the "working hands" at their companies. I'm not excusing them 100%. However, you should spend some time in a company and see how personnel administration works. Any company hiring an illegal (without checking their legal status) should be fined heavily. If a company does its research and can't prove a person to be an illegal, that same company should not be prosecuted. Either way, the illegal should still be punished.

Everyone has their scapegoat of choice -- illegals -- Reid -- Obama -- freakout righties and wild-eyed lefties... would be good if we could just have some civil discourse -- and publicly-funded elections. Might save America. Otherwise we are just tearing each other apart, and only corporations -- onshore & off -- benefit.

(By the way, it currently takes 9 years to become "legal," 15 years to become a citizen. )

When Republican Tea party wins this election! One thing for sure is happen. Ala Carte public service will happen just like the guy who forgot to pay his fire fee $75.0. When he called 911? The fire departement refused to come. Republican Tea Party agenda is to make every thing pay as you go. You call 911 and you pay for the service since no tax. Your house gets rob? The police come but you have to pay first before they help you. If you get stroke and call 911? You need to make sure you have debit card (with the pin) tape it on your forehead just to make sure they will help you. When your kids ready to go to school? Be ready for a lot of fee since they are not free anymore. If you get really sick and no money? Just lay down and wait for your time because no one will help you. That's the country with no tax. It's what they want you to have. Let me add with one more scenario: they don't want minimum wage so the big business can pay you based on what they like: from $1.00/day to $2.00/week. If you complain? They simply hire some other people who is willing to do it for you. If you get injured at work place? Your employer does not responsible to your injury. The reason? You are not too careful.  It's our future with Republican Tea Party. It's like living in heaven for the rich and business owners? But hell for the little people and worker like me.

John Brown99 is absolutley on the money. The right wing(nuts) like Sharon Angle want to cut social security, medicare, pensions and necessary goverment services yet preserve massive tax cuts for the wealthy even if it means borrowing the money from China.

I think Obama should initiate an investigation by the dept. of Justice against the Chamber of Commerce and any candidates who may have accepted bribes..er I mean, foreign money for their campaigns. Then start judicial proceedings against them.

You know what's funny about this whole "foreign contributions to the COC?" When asked on ABC news, Axelrod was asked if they had ANY proof at all that this is happening, he responded, "do you have any proof that it's not?" I about rolled on the floor when he was then asked, "Is that really the best you have?"

She claimed there were decapitated bodies in the dessert when there was no record of evidence to support that claim. She claimed Detroit was governed under Sharia law. She literally runs from reporters after her own news conference. She proposed eliminating the EPA, among others.

I'd like to see a viable alternative to Reid with realistic proposals, but this woman is a nutjob

Ried may be this or that but at least he's rational.

It's career politicians like Harry Reid, from both parties, that set up the conditions in the financial markets that nearly sent us into a depression. Both parties had a hand in it. One side cannot point to the other side and say it was all their fault. It took years , going back to Carter, to set-up the makings of the train wreck. Career politicians cannot point to their experience as a shining example of anything other then being used as an example of how long term residency in Washington seams to corrupt them all.

I think the problem is the primary system whereby challengers to incumbents have to impress the fringe/activist element of whichever party they are affiliated with because it's that element that votes in the primaries. The result is you never seem to get moderate positions, it always far right or far left.

It seems the problems are obvious enough but not the solutions.

Mark, as a nation we have survived inept politicians before. We have survived with Maxine Waters. We have survived with Joe Biden, who has said a lot worse the Sharon Angle, but the media seem to rejoice in pointing out what the candidates say more then some of the elected officials. Sharron Angle has a long way to go before she says anything as bad as Harry Reid. While our soldiers where fighting in Iraq, Harry Reid told the national and international media, that we have lost the war in Iraq. We where loosing soldiers in combat, and this clown has the ignorance to say to the international media that we had lost the war. Sharron Angle, no matter how bad she gets, will have a long way to go before she reaches the stupidity, and arrogance of Harry Reid.

Gary, I beg to differ. Sharron Engle doesn't live in reality. Joe Biden puts his foot in his mouth it seems out of enjoyment but he doesn't make up reality. Sharon said there were decapitated bodies lying in the dessert. That was fiction, it never existed except in her own mind. Harry states opinions you don't agree with but that's far from making up what is by any objective measure, fiction. To me, that's a huge difference.

Like they say, you're entitled to your own opinion but not your own reality.

True Beev, but I don't think there is any comparison to lack of intellectual qualityof some of the people republicans have nominated.

Politics aside, some of the republican nominations defy logic and it concerns me that peole like Angle or O'Donnell may be making national decisions. Keep in mind that in addition to economic decisions, they will be making decisons on foreign policy, environmental policy, etc. Angle proposed abolishing the EPA, to me that's an insane position.

But I can understand how many people would rather see the village idiot in office than Obama-followers. I don't agree with it but I can understand it. I just wish they would come up with better qualified candidates.

Pages 107 and 128 of the health care bill (no one read it) allows for religious exemptions. So I will pay for Muslim health care? Guess so. My rate just increased. It is now more than half my earnings. Nice job Prez and dems.

46 rounds of golf, 15 vacations, 29 concerts. Does that sound familiar?

Do you think Bush or Reagan took less vacations? No. Heck, Regan was reported to fall asleep in meetings and who knows when his very unfortunate Alzheimer's became an impediment?

Do you think the rate you pay for health insurance right now has anything to do with the health bill, extremely little if any at all.

Let's at least stick to relevant facts. Then we can rationally discuss the implications.

These people should scare you. They are so out of touch with us. We do know what the health law is doing to us right now. As of today, a lot of private insurance companies are not accepting new enrollments because of the loop holes in the childrens portion of the law. Also, there were 5 companies (McDonalds, Jack n the Box and others) that RECEIVED exemptions from the law. You should really try to put 2 and 2 together.

Pure, I'm not defending anything. I haven't read the heatlh bill in its entirety but I do know that the rate increases we see in private health insurance this year has little if anything at all to do with the health care bill. It has primarily to do with insurer profits.

I also know that Obama has taken less vacation than Bush had at the same time in his presidency, not that it matters.
